Dr. Susan G. Weinberger

Dr. Susan G. Weinberger—widely known as "Dr. Mentor"—is an international leader in youth mentoring and the founder and president of Mentor Consulting Group. She pioneered the nation's first school-based mentoring program in Norwalk, Connecticut, in the early 1980s, a model that has since been widely replicated.

An Ed.D. and former public affairs officer for Norwalk Public Schools, Susan later chaired the Public Policy Council of MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership and helped build its national technical-assistance network.

Through Mentor Consulting Group, she has advised schools, nonprofits, associations, and statewide partnerships on launching, strengthening, and evaluating high-quality mentoring initiatives. Her practical guides for mentors and program leaders are used across the country.

Susan also serves as a technical-assistance provider to the National Mentoring Resource Center and continues to write and speak about mentoring's two-way benefits for youth and adults. She is the recipient of countless awards for her service.
