The legacy
A school-based model
Susan founded Mentor Consulting Group building on her own model of school-based mentoring, so that schools and community organizations elsewhere could put proven practices to work.
Replicated widely
The program she designed was replicated in 45 states, as well as in Bermuda and Canada, and her work on mentoring has been published widely.
National recognition
In 1993 she traveled to the East Room of the White House to receive President Clinton’s Volunteer Action Award for her work in mentoring.
A broader practice
Over the years the practice grew from school-based programs to community, adult and workplace mentoring, along with evaluation and curriculum work.
